Magnesium glycinate would introduce additional glycine through the magnesium source, creating unnecessary overlap. Using magnesium malate allows us to keep the glycine dose controlled separately while giving the magnesium component a different role within the formula.
So, it is not that magnesium glycinate is a bad form of magnesium. It is simply better suited to products where relaxation is a priority. Magnesium malate was the better fit for OPTIMA because the formula is designed to support hydration, energy and performance, especially when you are training.
